Celebrating 35 Seasons of Excellence

Mission Statement: The California Theatre Center was founded in 1976 with the purposes of creating quality theatrical experiences for youth and families; instilling an early appreciation of literature and the fine arts in tomorrow's artists and citizens; and providing outstanding educational opportunities and training in the theatre arts.

The California Theatre Center is a company with three major programs: a resident company that performs primarily for students and families from October to May; a resident company that performs primarily for adults in the summer; and touring companies that perform regionally, nationally and internationally. The performing artist is the focal point of CTC. Since our society fails to recognize the value of performers, it is essential that their worth be fully appreciated in our theatre. We attempt to provide the performing artist with the best possible environment so that he or she can be as creative as possible. At CTC we believe it is important for us to think of excellence as a process rather than a product. Our company strives toward the goal of outstanding theatre. As we grow and mature our concern is with the future, not the past. What we are attempting in the present is always far more exciting than our past successes. We are passionately driven by our search for excellence.
