California Theatre Center (CTC) presents its 41st Anniversary Season of weekend professional
performances for young audiences, running October 2016 - April 2017. All performances are at the
Sunnyvale Theatre at the Sunnyvale Community Center, 550 E Remington Dr, Sunnyvale. Tickets are

THE FROG PRINCE Enjoy this popular tale by the Grimm Brothers about a vain and childish Princess who has promised to kiss a frog! At first she refuses to keep her promise, but, in time, realizes the importance of honesty and honor. Her kiss breaks the spell and transforms the frog back into a handsome Priince. Artful uses of puppetry, dance and comedy make this story "spring" to life and its audiences "jump" for joy! Suggested for grades K-5

THE SLEEPING BEAUTY Revel in the splendor of the Renaissance in this timeless fairy tale which pits evil against the powers of Knowedge and courage. When the most unpleasant fairy in the kingdom is mistakenly excluded from the christening of the newborn princess, she casts a spell that makes the entire kingdom sleep for one hundred years. Suggested for grades K-5

THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER Laugh when two merry elves arrive at a small village in the Black Forest to discover a poor, gentle shoemaker who clearly needs their assistance. Their good deeds, kindness and resourcefulness save the shoemaker and his wife from a bleak and unhappy holiday in this beloved CTC classic adored by both children and adults in sold out houses for more than 25 seasons! Suggested for grades preK-5

RUDYARD KIPLIING'S JUST SO STORIES Be fascinated by the brilliant language and the colorful characters in these classic stories by Rudyard Kiplinig, originally told to his own children over a century ago. These clever explanations of how thiings came to exist in the world come to life on stage in these four tales of timeless appeal: The Cat That Walked By Himself, How the Camel Got His Hump, How the Whale Got His Throat and How the First Letter Was Written. Suggested for grades K-5

ROBINSON CRUSOE Struggle with the English castaway Robinson Crusoe, the sole survivor of a shipwreck, in Daniel Defore's classic adventure story. The enterprising Crusoe attempts to survive alone on what he believes to be a deserted island - at least until he meets the cheerful and helpful native he names Friday. This famous novel inspired many future castaway stories, including The Swiss Family Robinson. Suggested for grades3 and up

I DON'T WANT TO GO TO BED Observe the frustrations of a young girl who simply doesn't like bedtime! One night she transforms this task into an active and imaginative adventure with her parents by re-enacting her favorite stories including The Three Little Pigs and The Billy Goats Gruff. THE BREMEN TOWN MUSICIANS Delight in the Grimm Brothers' story set during the California Gold Rush with songs from the era. A donkey, a dog, a rooster and a cat, who are growing older and are less useful to their masters, excape their humdrum lives and band together to seek their forturnes. This uplifting, lively tale about teamwork and making life changes resonates with audiences of all ages! Suggested for grades K-5

THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA Experience a time long ago when there were great castles and beautiful princesses.
